Abstract
This paper evaluates the effects of school closure during the Covid-19 pandemic on learning loss and learning inequalities in Rio de Janeiro. It presents longitudinal data for 671 children aged 5 and 6 enrolled in the second year of preschool, comparing cognitive development before and after school closures. Results indicate significant learning loss and a widening of pre-existing inequalities between socioeconomic groups.
